Weinmarkt Square (Wine Market) is the oldest square in Lucerne. The first city hall and the oldest market area of Lucerne were located in the old square. Weinmarkt Square is framed by numerous ancient houses with impressing wall paintings.

The most famous landmark in the city - the Weinmarkt Fountain is situated just in the middle of the square and is famous by its fresh water. The water comes directly from the mountain. The fountain was built in 1481. The Legend has it that wishes will come true and the water will be sweet as long as you follow 3 steps to make wishes: 

First, put both hands on the side of the fountain; sincerely make your wishes with your eyes closed.

Second, use your right hand touch the fountain and walk around it clockwise.    

Third, drink the water from all of the conduits of the fountain counter-clockwise.
